The Vision of the Obstructive Giant

This giant came to me as a vision.

I was walking through a park, fully awake, when my imagination projected him clearly in front of me. He wasn’t fleeting or symbolic — he was there, solid in the way visions can be solid. A huge figure with heavy weight and awkward posture, yellow eyes glowing steadily, standing as if he belonged exactly where he was. In the physical world I could walk past him without resistance, but in the realm of Rumeria, he was something else entirely. There, he was obstructive and defiant, blocking passage like the mouth of a cave itself.

This is one of the giants of Romeria. Unnamed for now. A contradiction by nature. A cave dweller who retreats into the depths, yet who wanders into settlements when need takes over. He tears roofs from barns simply to keep warm, not out of cruelty, but necessity. Destructive, inconvenient, often seen as a pest, his presence forces the world around him to adapt. His movements are clumsy, his mass undeniable, as though space itself has to make room for him.

He takes townsfolk back to his cave as part of a tragic and misguided attempt to create something new — to reanimate or form a companion, another being like himself. This impulse doesn’t come from malice, but from loneliness filtered through limited understanding. Guiding him is a red-faced apparition, a strange and malevolent intelligence that feeds him direction and volatility, pushing him toward action and disruption while convincing him that what he’s doing is necessary.

As he moves through the swamps and forests of Romeria, he carries an intoxicating presence. Not something deliberate, but a side effect of what’s been placed within him. People slow. They lie down. They sleep. They feel warmth, joy, and euphoria. Power flows through him without his comprehension, like a current running through a body that never chose to carry it.

Romeria continues to unfold this way — through visions, images, and beings that surface when they’re ready. This giant is one fragment of a much larger landscape, an ever-growing world where more entities, forces, and contradictions are waiting to take form
